![]() I have returned from the Children's Pilgrimage to The Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham. The children had a wonderful time, thanks to the imaginative planning of Fr Stephen Gallagher, the Year 4 God team, Fr Mark Gilbert and Mary Nagel and a team of helpers from Chichester Diocese. Great that the children know that they belong to something bigger than their local church. Great, too, that they were encouraged to think of Walsingham as a home to which they can return time and again throughout heir lives. It's a great way for parishes to invest in their young people - and a pretty easy one. Congratulations and many thanks to all involved - and thank you for investing in our children and their future. 5 Coaches from Chichester, lots of private cars went to Guildford today. The Cathedral was packed including the Gallery for the Walsingham day at Guildford. Bishop Lindsay led a wonderful Mass followed by the healing ministries all to be found at Walsingham. Bishop Martin finished the day with Benediction leaving us all uplifted. What a wonderful day! ![]() Walsingham National Children's Pilgrimage 2013 1st -3rd March Friday to the Sunday. We need to book by December 5th 2012 We as a Diocese are once again planning to organise a group to go on the Children's Pilgrimage to Walsingham. Please do encourage your young children to come along. We go up on the 9.00am Friday until the Sunday evening about 7-8pm. It is an educational visit so Mary Nagel will contact all of the Headteachers of the Children's schools to ask for them to go on the pilgrimage on the Friday. The Children stay in the shrine, usually we are in Recheldis House. A mixture of men and women leaders all CRB checked. The children share rooms, usually two or three in a room of the same sex. We try and make sure they are all comfortable with whom they are sharing. The accommodation is secure . All Children and Adults on the site wear a wrist band so no strangers are allowed and all Adults on the site have a current CRB. We eat are meals in the Shrine refectory, lovely! St John's Ambulance are there over the weekend in case of any need. Proper risk assessments and medical forms etc are taken out before hand. For those who go on the Pilgrimage it is a very formative experience. A video of the last two pilgrimages can be seen on the Walsingham Children's page.
